During weekends I would drive over to Aunt Maggies country home and spent meaningful moments with her. Like me, she too enjoys talking about gardening, philosophy, religions, Feng Shui and a wide range of topics. Sometimes I would just watch her tending to flowers and other plants in her lovely garden. In between, she would stop to rest at the patio of her home, which is graced with a beautiful set of teak furniture.

Her furniture collection on the patio consists of one large teak table and six teak chairs to go along with it. Besides that, she has a magazine rack arranged at the corner of the patio and one smaller table which she uses to put more delicate decorations of a beautifully colored water bowl with floating candles and small flowers inside to give it the extra vibe. Every piece of Aunt Maggie's collection seems to have special flowery designs of them and it seems to have a life of its own. The patio is where Aunt Maggie's family has their first meal of the day, their breakfast. Our teatime together is also spent there, enjoying the view of her garden, enjoying our tea and tasting the tasty pastries that her daughter made. This is what I call time well spent and Aunt Maggie definitely agrees with me.

I mentioned how I admire her plain but artistic taste, compared to others who spend so much time and effort but still left dissapointed.

"The best time to buy anything in this town is to go right before the festive seasons. There are a lot of patio furniture shops around town so you can go around looking for good bargains then, especially if you are looking for outdoor collections. But for this particular set, I purchased it online. I find it cheaper rather than buying at shops which offers almost the same design," She told me.

"I like teak fittings also, and I was hoping I could buy some. But mum doesn't think much of the smell of teak wood," I told her. Suddenly my heart sank as I remembered seeing some nice looking outdoor collections which consists of beach chair, tables and ornaments, all of which are made from teak.

From her collection of teak wood furniture, I can see that Aunt Maggie likes her furnishings consisting of different styles. Her teak fixture ranges from classical designs to modern day arts to contemporary designs which frankly, I don't really understand. "Teak furniture are special because their beauty are unlike other fittings, they do their job well and they last longer than other types", Aunt Maggie told me. I nod, signaling my agreement. She also told me that her garden benches were bought online from the website also. The designs, like her other teak wood collections, are simple yet full of beauty

"Not to mention they take little effort to clean and the maintenance is easy too", She said.

The patio and outdoors of any home can be greatly enhanced by the teak patio and outdoors furniture. Tasteful choice of fittings can significantly enhance the exterior spaces of all homes and gardens. At the back of her home, Aunt Maggie also purchased six teak chairs to complete the look of her medium-size pool. In between those loungers, there are small convenient tables for putting drinks or other stuff. Large umbrellas are perched on the sides to provide shades from glaring sunrays. A swimming pool without any beach chairs will seem incomplete.

Besides the patio and her swimming pool, Aunt Maggie obviously has decided to let the teak outdoor furniture work their magic somewhere else. Inside her garden are a few teak wood benches placed in strategic areas so that her garden would look more inviting and nicer with it. Each one of Aunt Maggie's fixture is unique in their own sense and also presents a lovely touch to her home.

Out of curiosity, I asked Aunt Maggie if she sets all her teak pieces based on the study of Feng Shui, since it is so popular nowadays. She said yes, she did incorporate some studies of Feng Shui for her home, both outdoor and indoor part. She says that Feng Shui would help create a sense of balance and calmness into the home once applied appropriately. "There is also an added bonus of increasing your luck," She added. However, she warned, never overuse the art of Feng Shui because this will create a negative effect on the overall set up of the furniture and will bring bad luck instead.

Objects, especially fixtures, once properly placed according to the rules of Feng Shui can create good will and therefore bring luck to the people living in the house, Aunt Maggie said. Seems like her decision to attend classes and read books on Feng Shui has helped her in her effort to increase her family's luck.

The popularity of teak furniture are mainly due to their style and for their long-lasting endurance. It is mostly due to personal preferences actually and what you think suits your style better. Besides that, they are also popular because they are comfortable to rest in, they perform well and they have soft, vibrant look to it.
